Japanese artist Chie Hitotsuyama and her partner Tomiji Tamai have been doing something unbelievable. Instead of throwing away those old used news papers, they have been recycling them by making beautiful wild animal portraits.
To make sure these sculptures look realistic, they take the effort to roll each tiny piece of wet newspaper to get the details on point.
Hitotsuyama Studio is based in Shizuoka, inside an old warehouse where Hitotsuyama’s family used to operate a paper strip manufacturing plant.
