Dubai Begins Construction of World’s Tallest Tower

131

Dubai is already home to the world’s tallest man-made structure, Burj Khalifa. The construction of ‘The Tower at Dubai Creek Harbor,’ will enhance its reputation for building futuristic skyscrapers. It will be the new tallest building in the world after its completion in 2020.

This project is a joint venture between Emaar Properties and Dubai Holding. Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava Valls is the mastermind behind the structure. The height of The Tower is being kept as a secret for now. When completed, it is sure to eclipse the Burj Khalifa, which stands at an impressive 2700 feet.

The construction is going to cost around $1 billion and this tower will form the centerpiece of the Dubai Creek Harbor master-plan. The design is inspired by a lily flower and the minarets that are typical of traditional Islamic architecture.

The structure will feature rotating balconies, 360 degree observation decks and elevated gardens. The tower will integrate a sustainable cooling system that will also provide water for cleaning its exterior.

What’s more, balconies that extend outwards will rotate around the tower. The peak of the tower will emanate a beacon of light at night. Illuminating tension cables will make The Tower visible for miles around.

Emaar Properties will attempt to deliver the new Dubai Creek tower in time for Expo 2020, which Dubai is hosting.
